A prison inmate trying to go straight is forced into participating in a prison break by another convict. After the two men escape, they separate. The reluctant inmate hides out in a cafe, where he falls in love with a waitress who works there - who he doesn't know is the girlfriend of the convict who forced him to escape.

Not a true Film Noir but still very good movie. Enjoyed when Johnny realized win lose or draw it's time to fight the bully back. Hopeful conclusion to the movie won't say much more as i don't want to rat out the ending.

schmalz never looked better
I love this picture! I love a movie that doesn't have any pretensions about itself and this one is as humble and self knowing as they come. Im really excited by its honesty and pathos, symmetry as a picture story. Might I add a 'thank you' at this late date?

Good Things on a small budget
A nicely formed B - which seems to benefit from the cramped nature of the sets - externals are few and fair between and well formed pacing. Adding this to your collection of "B"'s you really can't go wrong. I am giving it 5 stars as a "B", which obviously is not the same as 5 stars for an "A" . Not a masterpiece, but more than a mere distraction.
